Emayatzy Corinealdi is an American actress. She is best known for her leading role in the Ava DuVernay film Middle of Nowhere .

Corinealdi was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky. She is partPanamanian and partItalian. Her father, Edward Corinealdi, is a Panamanian, and her mother, Rosemarie Hilton, is AfricanAmerican from Ohio. As a member of a military family she was raised in many places . She studied in New Jersey at the Actors Training Studio, then at the William Esper Studio in New York, then at Playhouse West.
